Curry County CEF PreTrainers

Curry County CEF is continually adding a few very good teachers.   CEF ministries dictate that the teachers of the Curry County youth will be the best!   To that end, each teaching candidate, who must be at least 13 years of age, is apprenticed for a period of time until he or she can meet the stringent high standards of CEF.   Two of the trainers for this program in Curry County, Oregon, are Nancy Goodman, Coos County CEF director, and Allen Elrod, senior CYIA (Christian Youth in Action) CEF teacher. At the present time there are two young men in the apprentice program.   The primary focus of all CEF teachers is to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to the children and to lead each child to a close and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

One apprentice teacher, Steven Elrod, presently works with the 11 and 12 year olds.   He helps lead the singing, starts off many of the games, and visits with the children.   Today Steven is a 7th grader at Azalea Middle School in Brookings, Oregon.   His favorite sports include football and wrestling.

Kevin Green is the other apprentice teacher, and Steven and Kevin work together within the program.   Kevin is also a 7th grade student at Azalea Middle School.   He, too, helps at the off-campus clubs with the singing, games, and by visiting with the children.   Kevin, as Steven, is very athletic and excels in soccer and Tae-Kwan-do.

Both Steven and Kevin have been a part of the "pre-training camp", a summer camp, where apprentice teachers are trained and tested to the end of becoming the best.   The camp this year will be held at Camp Morrow, which is found along the Columbia River (between Oregon and Washington states).
